HELP MITIGATE THE INVASIVE GREEN CRAB!!

Green crabs are an invasive species that threaten Maine’s soft-shell crab clam and lobster fishing industries.  Sponsored by the Goldfarb Center of Public Affairs and Civic Engagement at Colby College, The Green Crab Mitigation Competition pairs academia and Maine fishing- and aquaculture-related organizations to harness the energy and intellect of undergraduate students to mitigate the problem.

In brief, undergraduate college students from Maine and coastal New England are invited to develop plans to limit the expansion of green crabs, and to present their proposals at a February 15, 2015 gathering at Colby College.  There will be a $1,000 prize for the best plan, followed by $500 for second place and two $250 honorable mentions.  Proposals scoring 90 or more points will be invited to submit a proposal for implementation funding to support moving their plan forward.  More information can be found on their website: http://www.colby.edu/goldfarb/green-crab-mitigation-competition/
